Our Mission
TNPOLITICO was created to give Tennesseans a clear view of how politics in our state really works. We don’t debate hot-button issues or push a party line. Instead, the focus is on the inner workings of campaigns, the decisions made behind the scenes, and how those choices shape elections and ultimately affect voters.
What We Cover
Coverage centers on the mechanics of Tennessee politics:
- Candidate backgrounds and campaigns
- Fundraising and spending
- Endorsements and alliances
- Turnout trends and election results
- Intra-party dynamics and power struggles
These “nuts and bolts” often matter as much as — if not more than — the headlines of the day. By examining how politics functions, TNPOLITICO helps readers better understand outcomes and anticipate what comes next.
What We Don’t Do
You won’t find partisan cheerleading or culture-war commentary here. We don’t tell readers what to think about the issues. Instead, the analysis stays focused on the forces shaping Tennessee elections so readers can form their own conclusions.
How We Work
At TNPOLITICO, reporting combines careful research, local knowledge, and modern tools to deliver stories quickly and clearly. AI is used as one part of the workflow — much like a newsroom might use a research assistant or analyst. AI helps process information efficiently, but every article is guided, fact-checked, and shaped by human judgment.
Transparency matters. That’s why I’m clear about how we work: AI supports the process, but people remain at the center of everything published.
Why It Matters
Politics is often covered like a sporting event — who’s up, who’s down. At TNPOLITICO, the goal is different. Understanding how campaigns are funded, how endorsements line up, and how turnout patterns shift gives Tennesseans the knowledge they need to make sense of their choices at the ballot box.
Advertising & Support
TNPOLITICO is currently self-funded and carries no advertising. Every article is produced independently, without outside financial influence.
In the future, I may explore options for support to help expand coverage and offset the costs of running this site. If and when that happens, readers can expect full transparency about how support is accepted and how editorial independence is maintained.
About the Editor & Publisher
TNPOLITICO is led by Brandon Windsor, a Tennessee native and everyday citizen. I am not affiliated with any political party, organization, or campaign. I don’t hold a degree in Political Science, and I’ve never worked on a political campaign staff. My perspective comes from decades of close observation as a voter who values democracy, fair elections, and freedom of the press.
My interest in politics began at age 12 during the 1988 presidential election. Since then, I have been an attentive reader and follower of national politics. I started TNPOLITICO to fill a gap in reporting closer to home — providing Tennesseans with thoughtful coverage of state and local political dynamics that often go overlooked.
As Editor & Publisher, I set the editorial direction, guide story selection, and ensure every article reflects TNPOLITICO’s commitment to clarity, fairness, and transparency.
TNPOLITICO is an independent Tennessee-based publication and is not affiliated with POLITICO or any national media outlet.
